These days many photographers offer engagement sessions in their wedding packages. This is a way for us to get to know you as a couple before we are with you on the best and most stressful day of your life. Lets be honest, most wedding days are jam packed with one event after the other. You get dressed, get married, dance, cut the cake, leave, and before you know it you are celebrating your first anniversary. Yeah, it goes by that quick. So getting to know your photographer during your engagement photos can help add a level of comfort to your wedding day.
So what happens during the engagement session? My sessions are about 2 hours – they can end sooner but to be safe expect to block off two hours. You pick the location. Would you like an urban city, a park, a field, a barn, a horse… whatever it is we can put ideas together and find a location.
If you are not sure what to wear I give my clients the option to bring 2 outfits. I’m also up for suggestion so if you bring three outfits I can give you some free fashion advice.*
Should you bring your furry friends? Sure! I have a cute mini greyhound (Stella) and if I could bring her everywhere I would. Pets can be an important part of your relationship. Just be sure that you plan for them too and have treats to keep them occupied.
The most important thing I tell couples is to remember your engagement session is about you. I want you to be as comfortable and natural as possible. So if you love baseball or have 10 inside jokes don’t be afraid to be yourselves.
