Chad & Bree’s Downtown Elopement — Creative, Untraditional, and Totally Theirs
Not every elopement needs a mountaintop or sunset. Sometimes, all it takes is a city sidewalk, a killer outfit, and a couple who knows exactly what they don’t want.
Chad and Bree skipped the traditions. No ceremony on display. No staged vows. Just the two of them, early downtown, dressed to do things their own way — and that’s exactly what made their morning elopement so cool.
They chose Le Méridien in Tampa as their meeting spot. The building’s old courthouse bones, tall columns, and gritty downtown backdrop gave us so much to work with. Bree wore a white romper, paired with a short, no-nonsense veil and classic sneakers. Chad kept it laid-back too, and honestly, the second I saw them, I knew we were about to make magic.
There was no plan other than “we want creative photos that feel like us.” Chad, also a videography professional knew what he wanted. Music to my ears as a Tampa elopement photographer.
We wandered the streets around Le Méridien, hit the back alley with the soft light cutting across the walls, found color in unexpected places, played with reflections in storefront windows. They didn’t want anything overly romantic or super posed. They wanted it funky, interesting, cinematic. So that’s what we made. It was part portrait session, part walking tour, part downtown adventure. And that’s what made it feel alive.
Bree’s veil came on and off throughout the shoot, depending on the mood. She didn’t fuss about it, she just adjusted it between shots or let it hang. Again, this was not a typical wedding shoot.
We wrapped after about an hour, having shot everything from wide cityscapes to little glances they probably didn’t even notice. And while there was no ceremony, no officiant, and no vows exchanged on camera, you could tell what this meant to them. The photos didn’t need props or words to carry the weight.
This is why I love working as a Tampa elopement photographer — because couples like Chad and Bree are redefining what it means to get married. No pressure to perform. No formula to follow. Just creative freedom and a city full of corners to explore.
If you’re planning a non-traditional elopement in Tampa or the Charlotte NC area and want creative, story-driven photos that break the mold — you’re my kind of people. Let’s make something real together.
